Aaron’s 499

Su May 1 – 12:30 pm EST (FOX)/16:00 GMT

This week, the NASCAR drivers are off to Talladega Superspeedway and, as the name suggests, speed is the name of the game here – the track record is 213 miles per hour! However, after an accident back in 1987 prompted concerns over the safety of drivers and fans, the drivers have had to race with restrictor plates on, thereby reducing speed and horsepower. The result was races with no particular bias towards any one team where just about anyone could win. The exception to that rule was the late Dale Earnhardt, whose superior driving skills won him eight races at Talladega with the plates on. His team-mate and son, Junior, has carried on that tradition since his father’s death winning five times, which is why he’s our favourite this week (4/1). However, driving a car that was pretty useless in 2004, he’s not been as intimidating this season and, at slightly bigger odds, his team-mate, Michael Waltrip, is the one to be on this week. Last week’s second at Phoenix will have given his confidence a boost, while he’ll also be driving the better car this week.

Nigel’s Checkered Flag: Michael Waltrip @ 9/2

The Playoffs continue this weekend and, after opening up a 2-0 game lead over the Nets in their Eastern Conference quarter-final, the Heat have been promoted to outright Championship favouritism. As only eight NBA teams have won a best-of-seven series after losing the first two games, the Nets, along with Philadelphia, Washington, Sacramento, Houston and Memphis have it all to do. The top-seeded Suns were pushed to their limit by Memphis before squeaking out a 108-103 victory. They remain at 4/1 in the outright betting, and at 13/8 to win the Conference while, in our ‘Game and Series Double betting, they can be backed at 4/7 to win Game 3 AND clinch the Series. ‘When Will Series Finish’ and ‘Series Correct Score betting is also available on site for all eight match-ups. Join us for live betting on all the playoff games this weekend, where our markets will include: Points Spread; Game Total and Next Quarter betting.

Week 14 – LV Gladiators @ CHI Rush

Su May 1 – 1:00 pm EST/17:00 GMT

With the new conference format, the final month of the 2005 regular season promises to be an exciting one, with eight precious invites to the playoffs at stake. In the National Conference, six teams are battling it our for four playoff spots, with both division titles up for grabs, while five teams in the American Conference are still in with a shout. At this stage the Central Division looks the most intriguing race, with Colorado on top with an 8-4 record, while Chicago is just a game behind on 7-5. The team that finishes second could well miss the playoffs. This week, the Crush are at Grand Rapids, where they should win, before travelling to meet the Voodoo next week. Their playoff hopes could come down to their season finale in New York. The Rush, arguably have the easier schedule, with a trip to Arizona next week, before closing the season against Grand Rapids and Nashville. This Sunday, they play the Gladiators at home with a wild-card spot in the playoffs on the line. The Rush are 4-2 at home this season, and 3-0 vs the Gladiators, after winning their last meeting 57-55 in Week 9 of last season.

Pick: Chicago (-5.0) @ 10/11.

Our live game this weekend is Nashville vs. San Jose (Friday April 29th, 10.30pm ET), when you can join us for ‘In-Play’ Point Spread and Game Total betting
