Outside of the clubs involved, there has been little interest in the Club World Cup, but it has produced some entertaining football. There have been plenty of goals and those who have tuned in to the tournament have enjoyed most of the action. Neither Chelsea nor PSG have remained unbeaten, but they have been the best sides across the competition. After comfortably negotiating their semi-finals, the teams will meet at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford at 8pm UK time on Sunday (TV: Live on CH5) to decide the destiny of this year’s trophy.

Some exceptional results in the knockout stages help to make PSG the clear favourites in this game. Most of our recommended bookmakers are offering 6/10 on the French side to win in 90 minutes, while a victory for Chelsea is quoted at 4/1. In between those two options is the draw at the end of normal time which is available at a general 10/3.
To recap, both Chelsea and PSG picked up six points in the group stages with a loss and two wins each. Since then, Chelsea have beaten Benfica, and the Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Fluminense to get to Sunday’s final.
The French side seem to be peaking, and while their results have been similar to Sunday’s opponents, their knockout games have been much tougher. A 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the quarter final was followed by a 4-0 demolition of the mighty Real Madrid in Wednesday’s semi. PSG have taken down European giants, and they seem worthy favourites here.
Ousmane Dembele made a slow start to the tournament but PSG’s main striker has scored in each of his side’s last two matches. Dembele is the favourite in the First Goalscorer betting, and he is available at best industry odds of 4/1. Paris players dominate the top of this market with Goncalo Ramos next at 9/2, followed by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at 5/1.
Bradley Barcola at 6/1 and Kang-In Lee at 8/1 are additional options for PSG backers. Elsewhere, the first choice from within the Chelsea camp is Cole Palmer at 19/2, while Nicolas Jackson is further back at 10/1.
Behind the main strikers, PSG’s Fabian Ruiz could be an option at a tempting top price of 15/1. The midfielder isn’t a regular scorer, but his two goals against Real Madrid on Wednesday included the opener.
Moving away from player betting, and Both Teams to Score can be claimed here at best industry odds of 4/6. Those who are edging towards the ‘no’ option on BTTS will find a top price of 5/4.
Crossing to the Total Combined Goals options and we find a best of 4/7 to go Over the 2.5 line. By pushing that up one stage to Over 3.5, the odds lift to 7/5. Anyone expecting a quiet 90 minutes in East Rutherford on Sunday could look Under the 2.5 goal line for a top price of 11/8.
Some Correct Score options round off this section. The bookies are predicting another comfortable outing for the UCL Champions, so a final score of PSG 3 Chelsea 1 could attract some interest at 11/1. A 2-1 win for Chelsea can be backed at 11/1, while the 2-2 draw is available at 14/1.
While PSG should win this, we suspect that Chelsea will give the French side a tougher test than Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. The Premier League outfit have been resilient throughout this tournament and have taken the Club World Cup more seriously than most.
When we previewed their quarter final against Bayern Munich, we suggested that PSG were peaking and getting stronger as the competition progressed. They proved that point and carried on that momentum as they eased past the mighty Madrid on Wednesday.
Chelsea, however, have been tough to break down throughout this tournament, and we suspect they will fare better than either Bayern or Real.
That’s why we were hoping for better odds than the 6/10 currently available for a PSG victory. Chelsea will challenge here, and we feel it might need extra time to settle the game, but we’ll avoid the draw.
In the side markets, Ousmane Dembele stands out at 4/1. He’s the favourite but that’s not a bad price for a player who scored 35 goals in all competitions for his club last season. As we’ve seen, he’s peaking alongside his team, with goals in the last two games.
If you want slightly less exposure, Dembele for an anytime goal can be claimed at 11/10. Another alternative is to go Over 3.5 goals at 7/5 but we’ll be bolder this week.
