Two teams desperately need the points for very different reasons when they meet in Saturday’s lunchtime kick off (12.30pm). For Manchester United, hopes of remaining in the Champions League places are fading following a string of poor results.
In the case of Frank Lampard’s Everton, there is a very real threat of dropping out of the Premier League for the first time. It may be a cagey, rather than an entertaining affair but there should be some interesting options to consider from a betting perspective.
Everton’s dreadful form is the major factor in Manchester United being installed as favourites. Most bookies are offering 3/4 on the away win while victory for the Toffees is on offer at a general 7/2. Completing the result betting is the draw which is quoted at 11/4.
Defeat away to Burnley in midweek leaves Everton just one point away from the drop zone. Frank Lampard’s men have claimed just three points in their last six games which puts them on 18th place in the form guide. Over the same period of time, Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United have 11 points so the Red Devils look to have the edge.
However, MUFC have put in some mixed performances and their recent run includes a defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League plus draws against Watford and Burnley – two sides in the relegation zone.
Those results should offer Everton some hope but the Toffees need a big lift in performance following Wednesday night’s loss.
The away win does look to be the most likely outcome but let’s look at some side bets before committing to the result. In the first goalscorer betting, Manchester United players dominate with Cristiano Ronaldo the favourite to open the scoring at 18/5. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford follow with both men on offer at 6/1 while Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin slots in at best industry odds of 13/2.
Following his double strike against Burnley in midweek, it’s a surprise to see Richarlison out at a top price of 10/1 and Everton’s Brazilian striker may just offer the best value in this market.
In other side bets, Both Teams to Score is available for Saturday’s game at 4/5 in a number of places. If you prefer to take the ‘No’ option on BTTS, this climbs above Even Money to an industry best of 23/20.
In the Total Goals betting, a stake Above the 2.5 line currently returns odds of 4/5 in most places. If we push that up to Over 3.5 combined goals, the figures climb to a best of 11/4.
Alternatively, if you feel that the trends are pointing to a low scoring 90 minutes, you can bet Under the 2.5 goal line for odds of Even Money.
That leaves some Correct Score suggestions and this preview will start with the favourites. A 2-1 win for Manchester United can be claimed at 17/2. The same outcome in favour of Everton is listed at 14/1 while the 1-1 draw is on offer at 7/1.
Our Preview’s EFC vs MUFC Betting Tips Verdict
We aren’t expecting too many goals in this encounter: Everton may have scored twice against Burnley on Wednesday but the Clarets are in the relegation zone. Last month, the Toffees failed to find the net against Spurs, Wolves and Crystal Palace and that’s an indication of their struggles against the better teams.
Manchester United should come through with the points but their own recent results aren’t exactly hinting at a comfortable afternoon for the Red Devils. A 3-2 win over Tottenham was the highlight for Rangnick’s men in March but that was a rare positive among some subdued displays.
We are edging towards the away win but those odds-on prices for United aren’t too comfortable. Therefore, we’ll suggest two betting tips from the side markets and we’ll start with a ‘No’ stake on Both Teams to Score. Everton have looked desperate in recent weeks and a toothless display against Spurs is a good indication of where their strike force is right now.
Manchester United will look at their Portuguese pairing as their most likely source of goals. Cristiano Ronaldo is the obvious favourite in the individual goal scorer betting but Bruno Fernandes has been profitable for us and he offers better odds.
You can take the 6/1 on Fernandes to open the scoring but the anytime option still offers a reasonable potential return at 21/10. United should win but it may be tight and the following picks should reflect a close contest at Goodison Park on Saturday. So these are the EFC vs MUFC betting tips for this preview:
- Both Teams to Score – bet ‘No’ at 23/20 with BetVictor.
- Bruno Fernandes to score at any time in 90 minutes at 15/8 with Betfred.
