Leicester City vs Manchester United Preview, EPL Game Odds Guide & Betting Preview: Vardy & Goals

Jamie VardyIt has been such a positive few seasons for Leicester City but the start of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign has produced mixed results. The Foxes will go into this game in 13th place in the table while their manager, Brendan Rodgers, is one of the names linked with the Newcastle job.

Leicester will host Manchester United, who also have issues and are dealing with managerial rumours of their own. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men remain in fourth place for now but there are concerns in both camps ahead of this Saturday 3pm kick-off.

While they are the away side, Manchester United have a six-point advantage over their opponents coming into this game and are clear favourites to claim the win. Most bookmakers are offering 11/10 on a victory for the Red Devils while the win for Leicester City is out at a general 5/2. The draw is also available at 5/2 in places while the best odds for a share of the points stands at 11/4.

Man Utd have that advantage in the points table but they have not won in their last three domestic matches. It is a run that includes a 1-1 draw against Everton last time out plus defeats against Aston Villa in the league and West Ham United in the EFL Cup.

For Leicester City, the form guide is much worse and we have to go back to August to find the Foxes’ last win in the Premier League: A 2-1 victory over bottom side Norwich City.

The form guide points to United but neither side is in particularly good shape coming into this game and there is certainly a chance for Leicester to come away with a share of the points at the very least.

The return of Cristiano Ronaldo has given the United faithful a boost and the Portuguese international is the favourite to open the scoring at 7/2. While the team’s form may be shaky, there’s nothing wrong with CR7 who has claimed five goals in six matches since arriving back at Old Trafford.

Man Utd players dominate the top of the first goalscorer market with Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes both listed at 5/1. Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is close behind at 13/2 and, while the Foxes have struggled, their key striker has thrived with six goals in seven league games.

Moving on, Both Teams to Score is quoted for Saturday’s game at a general 6/10. Having just looked at the attacking quality in both camps, that looks a likely option but 6/10 is too short to attract any great interest.

Could there be some better options in the Total Combined Goals markets? A modest stake above the 2.5 line will attract best industry odds of 5/6 while we could push that to over 3.5 for a more respectable top price of 2/1.

The feeling of this EPL match preview is that this game could produce a high scoring draw and, if you want to commit in the Correct Score market, a small stake on a 2-2 scoreline at best odds of 14/1 could be the way to go. If you disagree and think that there will be a winner in this match, a 3-1 win for Manchester United is quoted at 33/2 while the same outcome in favour of Leicester City climbs to 31/1.

Our Preview’s Leicester vs Man Utd Predictions & Betting Tips Verdict

The side markets that we have just looked at suggest that the bookies are expecting a high scoring afternoon at the King Power Stadium. The form guide doesn’t necessarily back that up but we think that is a temporary indicator and it is time for the trend to be broken.

These are two, high quality attacking sides and it is surprising that this game hasn’t been put down for live broadcast as it should be an entertaining afternoon. Irrespective of that, we can look for some value and the first tip is to go over the 3.5 combined goal line. It is a bet that usually attracts better odds than this week’s 2/1 but it still looks like a solid suggestion at a reasonable price.

There is no real interest in Both Teams to Score so, we’ll switch to the individual goal scoring markets. As Leicester have struggled, Jamie Vardy has been enjoying a prolific start to the season and the 7/4 from Bet365 for an anytime goal is a good price when others are much shorter.

We suspect a draw is in prospect, considering Manchester United’s recent issues but these two side bets can give this LCFC vs MUFC preview a nice return for what should be an entertaining 90 minutes. Here are our betting tips:

  • Over 3.5 goals @ best odds of 2/1 with BetVictor.
  • Jamie Vardy to score at any time @ 7/4 with Bet365.
