After two weeks of the new Premier League season, there are just three teams with 100% records. Two of those sides meet at Anfield on Sunday (4.30pm) as Liverpool host Arsenal in a game which is already being billed in some areas as a title showdown.
It’s very early days, but many feel that these clubs are the most likely to be fighting it out for the trophy next May, and at the very least, there is a crucial three points up for grabs. At least one of those perfect records will be lost at the end of 90 minutes, but how will this game play out? Read on for our LFC vs AFC preview with betting tips.
This is the 4.30 pm, Super Sunday kick off, and early markets show Liverpool as the bookies’ favourites. Most outlets are offering 6/5 on the home win, while victory for Arsenal follows at a general 11/5. The draw completes the match betting at best industry odds of 13/5.
At Newcastle on Monday night, defending champions Liverpool left it late to maintain their perfect start to the campaign. An injury time goal sealed a narrow 3-2 win, and after conceding twice against Bournemouth on the opening night of the season, it suggests that the Reds will be more vulnerable at the back this term.
Arsenal have had no concerns at the back, and the Gunners have yet to concede in their opening two games. A 1-0 win at Manchester United was followed by a 5-0 demolition of newly-promoted Leeds. It’s early in the season, but those encounters suggest that the game will be at least as close as the odds suggest.
Both sides have bolstered their strike force over the summer and that’s led to some interesting options in the first goalscorer betting. A familiar name heads the market, however, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah the favourite to open the scoring at a best of 5/1.
Viktor Gyokeres began to repay his transfer fee with a brace against Leeds United and he is Arsenal’s first option at 11/2. Liverpool forwards dominate from this point with Hugo Ekitike at 6/1, Cody Gakpo at 9/1 and Florian Wirtz at 9/1.
Behind the main strikers, Arsenal’s new signing Eberechi Eze will attract some interest at his top price of 10/1. Liverpool backers could consider Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored six league goals last season and is quoted at 20/1.
Moving on to team betting now and this preview will look at some options in the Total Goals markets. A stake Over the 2.5 line will currently be met at a general 8/11, but if we push that up a stage to Over 3.5, the figures head up to 19/10. The sportsbooks are clearly expecting a few goals in this one, as there are generous best odds of 11/10 available to go Under the 2.5 line.
Elsewhere, Both Teams to Score can be claimed for Sunday at a top price of 4/6. If you’re edging towards the ‘no’ option on BTTS, this is on offer at a general 6/5.
That leaves us with some Correct Score options to consider. The bookies are hinting at a tight game, so there could be some interest in a final outcome of Liverpool 2 Arsenal 1 at 9/1. The same scoreline in favour of Arsenal is available at 12/1, while the 2-2 draw can also be found at 12/1.

Injury concerns could affect Arsenal heading into this game. The Gunners will definitely be without Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, while there are doubts over Martin Odegaard. Arsenal have a good record against Liverpool, both home and away. Last season, both fixtures ended in 2-2 draws and the Gunners haven’t lost in the Premier League to these opponents since March 2022.
There will be obvious interest in the draw once again, but we feel Arsenal can edge the points on Sunday. While the loss of Saka in particular will be a blow, there is a feeling that some shrewd summer business has turned the team into title winners. The signing of Gyokeres could be key across the season and the striker could make the difference here.
There are other options: It should be another high scoring game, and with Liverpool looking more open this year, some may prefer the Over 3.5 goals bet at 19/10. Having turned into a goal machine during his final weeks at Crystal Palace, Eberechi Eze for an anytime scoring contribution is also worth a look.
