Saturday’s game at Anfield is an important encounter for both sides. Liverpool are keeping the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table while Spurs are still hanging on to hopes of claiming the final Champions League place (7.45pm; TV: Live on BT Sport).
With the Reds unbeaten in the Premier League since December 28, the bookmakers feel that there can only be one winner, but Tottenham have a decent record against these opponents. Let’s see if we can find some value picks among the markets with this LFC vs THFC preview and its betting tips.
That long unbeaten record, coupled with home advantage, makes Liverpool the clear favourites to claim all three points. Many outlets are quoting odds of 4/9 on the home win while the draw follows on at 4/1. Anyone wanting to back what would seem to be an unlikely Tottenham victory can claim odds of 6/1.
The form guide is interesting here. Over the course of the last six league games, Liverpool have the best return in the EPL of 16 points. Spurs are not far behind in third place with 13 points over the same period of time.
Tottenham’s record does, however, include a home defeat to Brighton and a draw at Brentford. If Antonio Conte’s men are capable of slipping up to teams below them in the table, how are they going to cope against a Liverpool side who look virtually unstoppable?
It could be a day to focus on the side markets where there are some interesting prices. In the first goalscorer betting, Liverpool players are dominating with Mohamed Salah leading the way at best industry odds of 7/2.
Diogo Jota follows at 9/2 while Sadio Mane will undoubtedly attract interest at a best of 5/1. In terms of Tottenham players, you have to scroll down to find Harry Kane at a top betting odds of 8/1. Kane ended a barren run with the first goal against Leicester City last weekend while Son Heung-Min, who scored twice in that game, is a tempter at a best of 10/1.
In other side markets, Both Teams to Score can be claimed for this match at a general 4/6. If you think that either, or both sides will draw a blank, the ‘No’ Option on BTTS creeps above Even Money to a best of 5/4.
Total Goals betting shows odds of just 1/2 for a stake Over the 2.5 line. If we push that to Over 3.5, the figures become more interesting with 13/8 a typical price. As an alternative, a low scoring 90 minutes could see the Under 2.5 bet convert at best odds of 6/4.
That just leaves some regular Correct Score options. If you think that the bookies have called this one correctly then you may want to look at the 3-1 home win which is on offer at 11/1. A 2-2 draw would return best industry odds of 18/1 while an unlikely 2-1 victory in favour of Spurs can be backed at a top price of 22/1.

We’re sure that this game will go with the formbook. Tottenham can raise their game for the big matches and we shouldn’t forget that they beat Manchester City away from home as recently as February. But Liverpool are much stronger and the home win looks almost certain. This preview is not interested in those short odds in the result betting so what about the side markets?
It’s tempting to look for a high scoring match, but we were expecting something similar as the Reds travelled to Newcastle last weekend. The 1-0 final scoreline suggests that tight defences on both sides will restrict the goals tally once again.
So, we’ll start with Both Teams Not to Score. Spurs can also keep it tight at the back and their best hope of a positive result is to keep Liverpool out. The Reds, in turn, don’t concede too many at the wrong end of the pitch.
As for a goalscorer, Son Heung-Min for an anytime goal is worth considering at around 3/1. He is outscoring Harry Kane and there is interest in the South Korean in the Premier League top scorer market. But Son can go absent in the big games, so we’ll take Sadio Mane who looks generous at 5/1 to open the scoring.
